Grand Opening Kits

The 2013 Grand Opening Kit (GOK) Program is a program designed to provide credit unions with a complete marketing in a box campaign. This program is intended to offer a low cost, easy way to market a product or service both in the credit union lobby and online through the web, social networks and email. For some credit unions these kits should encourage them to introduce a new product or service. For other credit unions, these kits are meant to supplement existing marketing. These kits take their inspiration from tradtional retail 12 month marketing calendars. The good news is for the 2013 program, every credit union will automatically receive one Grand Opening Kit for free.
Grand Opening Kit Selection Criteria
The Marketing teams met in August to outline the 2013 program. When selecting campaigns for the Grand Opening Kits, the following items were considered.
- Something a majority of our clients can or should use.
- Something that warrants a rollout to members.
- Something members care about.
- Balance between revenue generating and topical marketing.
- Balance between new and re-new.
- Timed to run in the non-contest month
- We can’t make everyone happy. We accept this.
Delivery
What if a credit union needs more of a single item?
Our vendor, Proforma, will have select items available for order on an individual basis.
Some items may require minimum quantity orders. Order information from Proforma.
For the 2013 program, CU*Answers is funding one Grand Opening Kit for every credit union. In advance, clients will receive an email notice announcing the order period for each of the Grand Opening Kits. Credit unions will be able to preview the Grand Opening Kit’s content online and have the option to preorder additional boxes for their branches at a cost of approximately $100 each. At the close of the order period the combined total of boxes will be ordered and shipped to each credit
union. Unlike our inaugural text banking Grand Opening Kit, once the final order is placed with the vendor, no additional boxes may be ordered.
Why One Box to Every Credit Union?
CU*Answers Board of Directors has committed to funding a one year proof of concept for the Grand Opening Kit program. The savings realized by the collaborative purchase of the kit contents makes this an affordable way for credit unions to pull off marketing campaigns that they may otherwise not be able to afford. Providing one box to every credit union gives them the opportunity to see what’s included in a Grand Opening Kit and how easy it is to market new services or reinforce the value of credit union membership.
What’s in a Box?
Each box is expected to contain a standard set of components that make up the bulk of cost. In addition, each box may contain a limited amount of a kit specific item, such as the key tags for text banking or carabiners for Self Service. However, each kit may contain different items.

Additional Grand Opening Options
Each Grand Opening Kit includes a checklist to leverage the full CU*Answers and Xtend marketing machine. The checklist includes:
- Suggestions on when and where to put in lobby marketing.
- Change your email signature.
- Change your voicemail greeting.
- Put lapels stickers on.
- Have helium ready if the kit includes balloons.
- Update your social media. (Twitter and Facebook text provided. Facebook timeline image provided.)
- Contact Web Services to have banners placed on your website and Online Banking Community.
- Contact Xtend for MemberReach OBC story, e-Info banners, and call campaign.

How to turn on Text Banking for your Credit Union:
To activate this feature in CU*BASE, simply go to MNCNFE #1-Online Banking VMS Configuration. Once you activate this feature in CU*BASE, members can enroll by clicking the Go Mobile button in It’s Me 247 online banking.
